NBS offers new specialisation --> Tourism & Hospitality Management
this is the 2nd time i'm blogging today....thought i wouldn't have anything interesting to blog about for the rest of day...after the adventure this morning...but i was wrong....
the whole of today there nothing for me to do...so i was like chatting on msn, surfing the net, checking emails and reading blogs....
just when i almost ran out of stuff to do, KIFE sent me this NTUSU forum link...then i remembered that i haven check my NTU webmail for a long time....and haven visit the NBS discussion forum for an even longer time!
so the slack Sunshine decided to once again visit the NBS website....first thing to check webmail... but then i forgot my password! 1st try, 2nd try...and so on....
oops....too long nv access the website already...forgot my password....hm...
so i tried again and again...and finally got it right! was quite happy to get into the webmail and discussion forum! but i soon regretted...
the discussion forum looks quite dead...not much new links and not much ppl post in it...unlike those days where it was so active....i browse thru a few links and then smth caught my attention:
"tourism and hospitality management specialisation"
i went inside this link and there was only 2 posts....talking about this specialisation being offered in NBS to the 05/06 batch students...the first thing that cross my mind was :
Why wasn't i born 4 years later!!! Aren't they lucky!!!
i can't believe it! NTU is offering this specialisation! they shld have done so long long ago! isn't it abit late now! (for me lah) arghh!!!!!
yes....i have a strong interest in tourism and hospitality....in fact u can say that its a specialisation i dream of since i was in secondary school....
after O-levels, there was this point in time where i was in a dilemma.....to go into JC or to Poly? the only reason why i was thinking of going Poly was because Temasek Poly offers this specialisation...but in the end, i still went into JC, thinking that from there i wouldn't restrict myself to only this specialisation...perhaps in JC i'll be exposed to other interesting areas....
In JC, i've heard more about this particular specialisation...in fact in Singapore, there isn't much places offering degree in this area....overseas might be a better alternative.....in the end, i also dunno why i ended up in Accountancy....
In NTU, had chance to take up tourism as a GE...enjoyed the course a lot....=p also, towards graduation, a well-known hotel came to NTU to recruit management trainees! i was quite excited and hopeful to hear that! perhaps this is my chance of entering the industry! i practically dragged my friends to the tok with me... however in the end, i didn't apply....the reason was because they didn't guarantee an assistant managerial position after the training period of 1 year....its was subjected to vacancies....
yes...i would love to try out, to apply etc....but i wasn't willing to take up the risk...if there isn't any vacancies, am i going to be stuck in the supervisor post forever? moreover it was the first year this hotel started this MT program... pretty risky....
so in the end....i'm still destined to go into the usual route that accountancy grads follows....be an auditor.... so far so good....
till i saw the new specialisation being offered....my interest was again being dug out from the inner part of my heart....if this specialisation is offered during my entry into NTU, i would prob haven taken it up....who knows? haha.....
after all, in life we make tons of choices....to think back and regret doesn't seem to rectify the current situation....what we shld do is to believe in the decisions we made....and proceed on....
alright...as i told KIFE, i'm just complaining....so ignore me....hahaa....
