Australia Grad Trip 17th June (Day 6)

Its going to be a very long entry this time....with lotsa photos too...heee....enjoy!

the long awaited day for Great Ocean Road was finally here.....great company for the trip accompanied by a great tour guide.... =p Our tour guide is called Michael aka 'Micky'....a charming, funny joker who's so entertaining throughout the whole trip (Laney will be nodding her head away and saying..."yahyah...so charming!" hahaha...

the first stop was at Bell's Beach.....definitely a great choice to be the first stop...nice scenary...but it was so cold!! it was actually more of the wind rather than the actual temperature of the place....we didn't expect it to be so cold so left our gloves on the coach!....we were shivering and struggling to take photos as quick as possible so that we can hide our hands inside the pockets....haha...

it was a stop for tea and some snacks as well....hee....2 kind of snacks...one was a cake with jam spread....it was yummy...the other one was kinda weird...nv eaten it before....it was biscuit with a kind of spread...upon the first bite the taste was a little familiar....then suddenly it striked me...it tasted like Marmite! erm...u all know? i used to eat it with porridge when i was young...or just stir it in hot water and it'll become soup...hehe...but with biscuit? it wasn't veri tasty....but well... Micky (our tour guide) kept insisting that it was nice...haha...

Bell's Beach

by the time we got back onto the coach, our hands seem to have frozen and were 'thawing'....they were so numb that i can hardly feel them...

the next stop was also a beach stop...well...will be seeing a lot of these coz its Great Ocean Road! but will nv get sick of it because Nature is just so wonderful! i simply love it! i don't recall the name of this place....but i think u all will also fall in love with the place just by looking at the photo....the nice curvature of the sandy beach, green vegetations, the blue seawater with white foam and the blue sky.....who will ever get sick of these??

i love this beach....ooohh...

after travelling for some distance, we finally reached the official entrance of the Great Ocean Road!

The entrance to Great Ocean Road!

the road was quite curvy with a lot of turns....like a meander...and most of time, we can enjoy the sea view and ocasionally see some huge boulders by the beach....we also get to see the products of erosion by the waves....reminds me of Geography lessons...haha...the tour guide even told us that although he has taken many Great Ocean Road trips before, he never get sick of it coz the colour and shade of the sea is so different each time he takes the trip...cool!

the colour of the sea is so nice!

we stopped at Apollo Bay Hotel for lunch....well...as usual...i ate pasta AGAIN.....the food was quite yummy!

Lunch at Apollo Bay Hotel

After lunch we continued the journey and this time round, the coach didn't go on the road by the sea, instead it went by the inland road through the forests and grass fields....i think it was a shorter route to get to the sightseeing stops....there was a lot of grass fields where u can see a lot of cows and sheeps grazing....

the sheeps and the cows grazing on the grass fields...

we also came across this herd of sheeps and a sheepdog who was running around trying to gather the sheeps together....haha...and after our coach went past them, the shepherd opened the gate and the sheeps started crossing the road! what a rare sight!

the sheeps and the sheepdog!

Finally reached the 12 Apostles....the photos didn't turn out well coz it was raining so heavily! even with the umbrellas, we still got wet coz the wind was so strong...little time was also given to us to explore the place...so in the end we didn't enjoy as much as we've expected....nevertheless, we took some photos of the place and although the pics looked different from those u see in brochures and those taken during sunny days, the misty look gives it a different feel....

the 12 Apostles!

i can tell you, the Apostles are HUGE! its hard to estimate their size from the photos or pics...it was only when i was physically there, in front of it, do i really get to feel how BIG and MAGNIFICIENT it was....(yah Laney...perhaps we shld go again next time...haha)

i'm in a mess...*shake head*

I guessed you all would have heard of the news regarding the collapse of one of the Apostles? its was soon after we got back to Singapore... and after surfing for the news on the net, i found one pic (see the original photo and news HERE) that was the same as the photo i took when i was there...even i can't believe it! maybe i have the making of a good photographer...haha.....and from the comparison of the 2 pics, u can see which of the 9 orginally Apostles has collapsed...=p

Before the collapse.... a 50m sea stack

After the collapse.... see the 10m pile of rubble that remained? sigh...what a pity....

continuing the journey, the next top was Loch Ard Gorge....its was orginally discovered by 2 survivors from a shipwreck in the 18th century.....

Loch Ard Gorge! we even went down and touch the seawater...heehee...

towards the evening we had a tea break in a small town...by then my feets were freezing in my soaked shoes and socks...but that didn't stop me from taking pics of the nice surroundings i was at...

nice scenary behind.....

the last stop was the London Bridge....had studied this during Geography lessons before...its so amazing that I finally gotta see it! while we were there, we got this caucasian lady to take a photo of us WITH the London Bridge....but well...she got us to shift and shift till when the photo was finally taken, it was us IN FRONT of the London Bridge...ahaha....we were practically bl0cking the London Bridge! that was probably the worse photographer i've met during this trip...haha....

London Bridge

Dinner after that at a small town...dun really have much appetite then coz i just wanna get back to the apartment asap to bathe....my feets were so frozen that it was unbearable....by the time the whole trip ended and we got back to our apartment, it was nearing midnight....by then, my feets were numb from the long period of freezing...and when it touches warm water, i thought my feets were on fire! arrghh....but i shan't complain too much...coz it was definitely a tiring but fulfilling day!
